Congress Connect 2021 Highlight – Ian and JoAnn Walters’ presentation on MTO Facility Audits

A personal highlight of the conference for me was Ian and JoAnn Walters’ presentation on MTO Facility Audits. Ian and JoAnn are experts in the area, they are commercial vehicle consultants with decades of experience working as D.O.T. officers and as Facility Audit investigators. On the first day of the conference, Tuesday, January 12th, they shared some of their knowledge with us.

Some highlights from Ian and JoAnn’s presentation:

    • Companies must have a way of tracking communication between the driver and the company on a day-to-day basis, this communication must be recorded or saved and is used as a reference in case of audit.
    • Even if your driver is logbook-exempt, they must still use daily inspection sheets as evidence of pre-trip inspections. If you face an audit, these daily inspection sheets will be examined. Pre-trip inspection sheets must be kept for 6 months from the date of inspection.
    • Each vehicle needs its own file, complete with a 2 year history of any repairs done, and any officers or annual inspections done as well over the past 2 year period. Of course, it’s good practice to retain a full history of repairs done on your vehicle over the lifetime of ownership.
    • It’s recommended that you check your drivers’ records at least once a year, to ensure that there haven’t been any recent convictions.

A big thank you to Ian and JoAnn Walters for their informative presentation! If your business is struggling to manage your fleet, I recommend contacting Ian and JoAnn as their knowledge and experience is second to none. I will be updating this post with their contact information.

Landscape Ontario’s Congress Connect 2021 virtual conference

    Welcome to the DriverVerified blog!

We just wrapped up participating in the live portion of the Landscape Ontario’s virtual conference, Congress Connect 2021. The event itself ran from January 12 – January 14th, and it was packed full of valuable sessions with relevant and helpful material for anyone involved in the landscaping business.

The virtual conference itself is a new concept, by necessity, and Landscape Ontario set out to provide the most exciting and feature-packed experience possible for attendees. Other than being members of Landscape Ontario, what drew us to the conference was the accessibility. While the live event portion of the conference has concluded, the marketplace of exhibitor booths will remain for the rest of the year. Furthermore, anyone can access the booths – you don’t need to log in, you don’t even need to be a member of Landscape Ontario.

This year long access also means that companies can continually update their booths with more products, information, and promotions throughout the year. We really appreciate this idea of the exhibitor booths as a showcase that lasts more than just a few days and is accessible beyond the conference attendees. Come on down and visit our booth!

We have more posts about the conference sessions that we’ll publish next week – so stay tuned!
